This is the first critique in the Automotive section, and it's coming from a man who likes to think he knows a little about cars, ME. To start us off in 2008, we will do an overview of the 2009 Nissan Skyline GT-R. This is the 6th generation of the Nissan Skyline, and I have mixed feeling about it. Sadly it will not be available until the middle of the year, I have yet to test drive or see one in person. This is also the first time the skyline is available to the United States market.
Styling: In my opinion this is one of the best looking Skylines to date. The futuristic edges and flow of the vehicle are more than just eye catching, it looks like it's setting a record on "The Ring" sitting still. It is much better looking than the prototype shown in 2001 at Tokyo. It holds strong to GT-R lineage with the body being based on a sedan platform, but with only 2 doors, allowing for a monster of a motor.
Performance:
This is the whole reason to purchase a GT-R. All wheel drive and a ridiculous amount of power (480 Hp) Coming from a 3.8L Twin Turbo V6. It has a carbon-composite drive shaft and a suspension to die for. 4 wheel independent Bilsteins to be exact. All tested on the Nurburgring the GT-R is made to perform. With big Brembos (15 inch rotors! Bigger than my cars wheels.) all the way around, the new GT-R will come to a stop just as well as it accelerates. (No Numbers Available as of Yet, Still kept under wraps)
Cons:
No Manual! WTF?! Thats right, you have to live with a 6 speed clutchless paddle shifting.
20" Wheels: We want performance, not DUBS Nissan!
The Verdict:
If you want "Godzilla" in his new American skin, and don't mind the $69k+ Sticker, then this is the vehicle for you. It will out perform most vehicles in its class, and is definitely priced to compete. A usual standard in the Japanese automotive world. Look to see it in L.A. or NAIAS in Detroit. Odds are that it will be at the L.A. show, where most Japanese manufactures reveal their top of the line sports cars.
This won't be official yet, as all the numbers aren't available. TO BE CONTINUED...

I'm honestly not all that impressed. It's a Skyline GT-R... this is expected of it.
